Introduction: Mastering the Machine, Minimizing the Risk
Mobile Elevating Working Platform (MEWP) training is designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate these machines safely and effectively. Also known as scissor lifts and cherry pickers, MEWPs are indispensable for work at elevated levels.
Crucially, this training is mandatory for anyone who will be operating these machines on the job.

1. Understanding the MEWP Categories
Effective training begins with understanding the different types of platforms you may encounter. Our training covers the main MEWP categories, ensuring comprehensive knowledge:
- Static Vertical (commonly known as Scissor Lifts).
- Static Boom (commonly known as Cherry Pickers).
- Mobile Vertical (Wheeled Scissor Lifts).
- Mobile Boom (Wheeled Cherry Pickers).
2. Core Content: Safety Before, During, and After Operation
Our curriculum ensures operators are prepared for every phase of MEWP use. You can expect to learn the following essential components:
- Regulations and Standards: You will learn about relevant safety regulations and standards governing MEWP operation.
- Pre-Operation Checks: The training emphasizes thorough pre-operation inspections, ensuring the MEWP is in safe working order before use.
- Safe Setup and Operation: You’ll learn proper procedures for setting up the MEWP on stable, level ground, positioning the platform, and operating the controls safely.
- Safe Use Practices: The training covers essential safe work practices, such as maintaining three points of contact (two hands and a foot or vice versa) at all times, not exceeding the platform’s weight capacity, and being aware of overhead hazards.
- Emergency Procedures: Participants will learn how to respond to emergency situations, such as equipment malfunctions or getting stuck in the platform.
